[Dragon Quest Builders]Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii says look forward to many announcements, including ‘that game’[Tag: Dragon Quest Builders ]
Square Enix is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Dragon Quest series with a special livestream, and Yuji Horii shared a little teaser for the new game announcements coming our way, potentially including Dragon Quest XII and/or any number of other projects.
Here’s the tweet from the Dragon Quest creator and our translation below:

Yuji Horii,?Dragon Quest creator: “Dragon Quest‘s 35th anniversary is finally upon us this Thursday. As you may already know, we’re hosting a special 35th anniversary program on the same day. We’re looking forward to showing our gratitude and sharing many announcements during the live stream.? And of course, about that game… So please look forward to it, everyone!!”
Whenever a big-time developer teases “that game” in Japan, that means something big is coming. While most fans speculate a possible Dragon Quest XII?announcement, there are several other possibilities. Square Enix announced back in November 2018 that a new?Dragon Quest Monsters?featuring a young Erik from Dragon Quest XI was in the works. There was also talk about a remake of Dragon Quest IX, which was originally released for Nintendo DS in 2009. There’s additionally a possibility of a Dragon Quest Builders 3?announcement following the success of the previous two entries.
In any case, Yuji Horii rarely ever tweets about events, but when he does, it usually ends up being something big. It’s also pretty rare to have a Dragon Quest livestream available in multiple languages, so that also sets the stage nicely for a big main-numbered reveal.
The Dragon Quest?35th anniversary live stream will start at 12:00 p.m. JST on May 27, 2021. That’s May 26 at 8:30 p.m. PDT, 11:30 p.m. EDT, and May 27 at 5:30 a.m. CEST. The broadcast will be available to watch on YouTube in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. You can read more about the program in our previous report.
